Ma, perché no? A charming little piece of Italy located in the heart of George Washington's city, Trattoria da Franco also provides elegant training in Italian language and culture. The once-a-week classes are conducted by Italian Maddalena Borea. Borea, living between Italy and US since 1964, has taught the language to more than 500 people in America. She graduated in Italy, where for a while she worked in Florence. Afterwards she moved to Washington, DC. In this area, for many years, she taught at Catholic University, in the District. Around the year 2000, la signora started moved her teaching work to Trattoria da Franco where many people have indulged in her fascinating lessons, ranging from watching Italian films to reading Italian classic novels. Every Monday evening, the third floor of the restaurant is reserved to Maddalena's classes. There are groups for beginners and advanced students, while Friday afternoons are reserved for private instruction. New groups can be started anytime.
